It will go a lot faster that way and you won t be frustrated by having to activate the device on Netflix twice or by your wireless connection going down when you re trying to update your firmware. If you can, set up the device with a wired connection, connected to a TV, close to your computer, and get the firmware update out of the way, then set up content providers, then set up wireless if you re going to use it, then move the device wherever it will stay and set up your audio/video/other preferences. The process of setting up the Sony and Netflix content might be a little irritating if your BDP-N460 and computer are far apart, because you do have to do a little back and forth between the player and computer, but it should be less than a minute each not counting travel time to get from one to the other, and you only have to do it once. YouTube streaming is great for kids or for parties, because you can keep going from one video to the next in a search or subscription, so set up a search for the little one to watch a bunch of Muppets clips or set up a stream from your favorite DJ and you re good to go.
I m considering cancelling my cable TV subscription and just going with streaming and discs.
It s far and away more reliable than Comcast OnDemand.
